MZANSI's top artists will take home prizes of R50 000 and R150 000 on Saturday, 27 April.

These awards will be presented during the Metro FM Music Awards' live broadcast from Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Under the theme: Black to the Future, the country's leading celebrities are set to dazzle on the black carpet, showcasing their interpretations of black excellence.

The event promises an exciting mix of performances from both veteran artists and newcomers. Oskido, Boom Shaka, Aymos, Brenden Praise, Ntokozo Mbambo, and others are expected to light up the stage.

In a special segment of the show, the late singer-songwriter Bulelwa Mkutukana, widely known as Zahara, will be remembered with a tribute performance by Lwa Ndlunkulu and Vusi Nova.

Metro FM's Business Manager Kina Nhlengethwa previously highlighted the awards as a celebration of South Africa's dynamic music scene, emphasising how melodies can unite hearts and souls nationwide.

"It's a platform where artists, both established and emerging, showcase their passion and talent, igniting a symphony of inspiration and creativity," Kina said.

"Beyond the glitz and glamour, these awards embody the relentless pursuit of excellence as well as the unwavering dedication to the craft."

Amapiano is at the forefront of the nominations, with both Kabza the Small and Tyler ICU receiving five nominations each.

Kabza received nominations for Best Produced Album, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, and Best Amapiano – all for the song Imithandazo, featuring Mthunzi.

He was also nominated for Best Male Artist.

Inkabi Zezwe, Sjava and Big Zulu bagged four impressive nominations, two for Ukhamba – Best Produced Album and Best African Pop. They were also nominated for Best Collaboration for the song Umbayi Mbayi.

Some of the categories included Challenge of the Year, and the TiKTok trends that dominated in 2023.
