Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele struck twice each to inspire Paris Saint-Germain to a 4-1 victory over Lorient and took them to the brink of the Ligue 1 title on Wednesday evening.
Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos missed out to have Milan Skriniar, Lucas Hernandez and Nuno Mendes coming in with as ever Kylian Mbappe spear-heading the attack.
Lorient were up against it from the onset and trailed over ten minutes played as Ousmane Dembele charged down the right to skin a couple of challengers and cut inside for a trademark fashion.
Mbappe extended the lead midway through the half when he collected a pull back from Mendes in the box and finished superbly beyond goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo.
Former Chelsea and AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko had the chance to halve matters through a towering header on the half-hour mark off a corner, but Gianluigi Donnarumma repelled him.
PSG entered the second period quite slow out of the blocks, with the host fancying a comeback and looking to get in-behind but were guarded very carefully.
Dembele looked to inspire the league leaders and champions-elect again moments apart from a move involving Mbappe, but he was unable to make it count where it mattered.
The one-time FC Barcelona man did get through though around the closing quarter when he connected with Mbappe’s pass to the back-post and tapped in.
PSG produced a trio of alterations over ten minutes played in the second period, as Manuel Ugarte, Carlos Soler, and Randal Kolo Muani stepped on from the bench.
Les Merlus got a reprieve in the final 20 minutes when Mohamed Bamba escaped one challenge in the area to head in the top corner following a surging cross.
Mbappe though denied them any chance of a comeback in added time after he cutting into the area to curl in the top corner.
The win takes the visitors to within a 12th domestic title, as defeat to Monaco against LOSC Lille in tonight’s other match will hand them the title.
