Ronaldo to benefit from Man Utd's latest success?

It has been claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo could benefit from Manchester United's latest success – here is how.

The Red Devils defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday to end a six-year trophy drought.

Manager Erik ten Hag has wasted no time in guiding the club to silverware just 10 months after being hired, and following their latest triumph, the Dutchman has revealed that he wants "much more trophies".

Interestingly, the Tyneside club's second-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka got a winner's medal despite being on the losing team; this is because he played for Manchester club in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign.

According to the Daily Mirror, United could yet choose to give Ronaldo a winner's medal too, even though the Portugal captain left the club in November, when his contract was mutually terminated.

Despite the 38-year-old not featuring in any of his former team's matches in the competition this season, he is still eligible for a medal.

It is understood that United were allocated 30 winner's medals to give to their players upon their final win, but the club used only 27 squad members in the tournament this season, leaving an extra three available.

Ronaldo has been in free-scoring form since joining Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, having scored eight goals and provided a further two assists in six appearances across all competitions.
