OFFICIAL: Man City sign another midfielder!

Manchester City have once again bolstered their squad with another new midfielder!

The Citizens have confirmed the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £53 million (R1.2 billion) and 10% of potential future sale profit to Wolves, according to transfer expert David Ornstein.

A statement from the club reads: "Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year deal.

"The Portuguese international becomes our fourth signing of the summer, following Croatian duo Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, as well as Belgian winger Jeremy Doku, through the door."

The fee the clubs agreed on came after City had an initial bid of £42 million (R990 million) rejected by Wolves, but the Mancunians have now got their man after he reportedly went on "strike" to force the move.

Nunes will now join fellow newcomers to the Eithad Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Jeremy Doku.

The Citizens will be hoping their latest signing will help fill the voids left by Ilkay Gundogan, who departed as a free agent before joining FC Barcelona, and Kevin De Bruyne, who may be sidelined for up to four months due to injury.

Nunes signed for Wolves at the beginning of last season, and made 34 Premier League appearances to help his side finish the 2022/23 campaign in 13th position.

It is understood that Wolves have also reached an agreement with City to sign Tommy Doyle on a season-long loan deal that includes a £5 million (R118 million) buy option, with the Manchester side also being the benefactors of a potential 50% future sale profit on the player.
