After Manchester United confirmed they have an agreement to sign Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday evening, his shirt number at the English club has now seemingly been revealed.
With the 36-year-old now set to make his return to Old Trafford, speculation continues to persists with regards to which number Ronaldo will wear as Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial currently wear the No. 7 and 9 shirts, numbers the Portuguese superstar has famously worn in his career before.

However, it appears that he could wear the No. 7 shirt once he is unveiled, with the Premier League's official website having listed him with the iconic jersey, according to the Daily Mail.
The website shows that both Cavani and Ronaldo have been assigned to same number, raising uncertainty as to which attacker will be given the shirt.
The Premier League Handbook for the 2021/22 season could prove to be the obstacle that stops the five-time Ballon d'Or winner from getting his old numeral, though.

A rule in Section M: Players' Identification and Strip states that: "Before the commencement of each Season each Club shall allocate a different shirt number to each member of its first team squad.
"While he remains with the Club a Player will retain his shirt number throughout the Season for which it was allocated."
With the Uruguayan forward and Martial having both made appearances for the Red Devils in the 2021/22 campaign already, Ronaldo could be forced to look elsewhere for his new number, although Sky Sports has reported that the Red Devils are set to ask the Premier League for special dispensation to allow the ex-Real Madrid star to wear the club's iconic No. 7 shirt.
