Romanian League champions FCSB won the race to sign Siyabonga Ngezana – but Kaizer Chiefs received three separate offers from all across Europe for the player’s services prior to his move.

In retrospect, Ngezana made the right choice by joining FCSB given that he won the league with the club less than a year after joining them.

He has played no small part either.

He made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Romanian giants, but it all could have been very different.

According to agent Florin Vulturar, Ngezana had three separate approaches from Ferencvaros (Hungary), FC Copenhagen (Denmark) and Sheriff Limassol (Moldova) – but it was FCSB whose R12 million transfer eventually won the race.

“Ngezana was followed for a very long time, about 6 months before we brought him,” he told Fanatik.

“I kept talking to FCSB about him and in the end, we managed to bring him to a finish, even though we had some pretty strong teams that we were fighting with. Ferencvaros are still upset that they didn't manage to get him.

“He had from Ferencvaros, from Copenhagen, from Sheriff. He had an offer from Sheriff before FCSB. But in the end we managed to convince him to bring him to FCSB," he continued.
