MTN8 final at Mbombela Stadium

Kick-off is scheduled for 17h00.

The PSL made the announcement just before Mamelodi Sundowns hosted Chippa United in the second leg of their semi-final at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night. Downs advanced with a 1-0 victory in Atteridgeville.

Bidvest Wits will be the host team in the final, having defeated newly formed Cape Town City 3-0 on aggregate in their last-four meeting.

PSL acting chief executive Mato Madlala said she was expecting the people of Mpumalanga to rally behind the event.

“As the league, it is in our interest to ensure that we spread football to different parts of the country to give our supporters an opportunity to watch cup finals and we are excited to announce that Mbombela Stadium will host this season’s MTN8 final.

“We would like to thank the different stakeholders in the city of Mbombela who, firstly, showed interest and cooperation in our discussions. We are looking forward to what we hope will be a great cup final on 01 October. We also want to thank our partners, MTN for their support.”

Tickets for the MTN8 final will be sold at TicketPro outlets throughout the country. The PSL will communicate ticketing information in due course.
