Maritzburg are in the last-four of the event for the first time after beating African champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the quarter-finals, having achieved only their second ever top-eight finish last term.
The Team of Choice have won their opening three games of the season in all competitions, while Matsatsantsa lost 2-0 to the Brazilians in the Premiership inbetween beating Kaizer Chiefs twice (1-0 in the MTN8, 2-1 in league).
Davids, however, is mindful the four-time PSL champions' pedigree cannot be ignored.
"They are a fantastic side and we are just underdogs. They are cup winners and we haven't got to a cup final yet," said Davids, whose side defeated Ajax Cape Town 2-0 at home on Wednesday.
"We've got to be realistic and see. But they are a fantastic side and we've got to give them the respect they deserve.
"Of course we've got to take in to consideration that we are playing a third game now in seven days. After the FIFA break there will be a second leg at home and hopefully we don't get any injuries... We must stay fit to be able to field a full strength side for both legs."
Kenyan defender Brian Onyango is only expected to receive his work permit after the FIFA international break, meaning ex-Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Siyanda Xulu is likely to pair up with Bevan Fransman, Denis Weidlich and Bandile Shandu at the back this evening.
Kick-off is at 20h15 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
