Hunt, along with Arrows coach Clinton Larsen and his assistant Madla Ncikazi, was sent to the stands by instruction of the fourth official Victor Hlungwani following a heated exchange between the two technical benches during their MTN8 quarterfinal clash at the Bidvest Stadium.
This came after each team were already a man down, with scores locked at 2-2 and headed for the shootout, before Siyabonga Dube was then sent off for a headbutt on Gabadinho Mhango.
However, Hunt says it was just emotions running wild on the touchline and feels the officials made an unnecessary scene by taking action, while affirming that there was no ill will between the coaches.
“It was just a few words exchanged from the benches, it had nothing to do with the fourth official and nothing to do with the referee,” Hunt tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“It’s the heat of the game, it was done after 10 seconds and [for the officials] to make a scene of it – it’s a problem for me that, but that’s where we are, we worry about small things and not the bigger picture.
“But [between] me and Clinton, there’s no problem. I’ve got no problems. I’ve been in the game a long, long time and what gets said is left there. I don’t bear any grudges, some people do but I don’t.
“It was over in 30 seconds, all of a sudden there was a whole hoo-ha when there were more important things on the field that should have been taken care of.”
Hunt, Larsen and Ncikazi will now miss their respective teams’ next two matches as part of their suspension, in accordance with the PSL rules for dismissals.
