Mbappe nets first hat-trick as Real pull clear atop

Kylian Mbappe registered his first hat-trick for Real Madrid in a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Saturday evening.

The only change to Los Blancos line-up saw Lucas Vazquez dropped for Aurelien Tchouameni, who moved to centre-back/

Valladolid's approach were very encouraging and nearly had the front-foot when a near post header by David Torres forced Thibaut Courtois to an outstretched save.

Los Blancos were alive towards the midway mark of the half and saw a flying shot from Rudiger urging Soria across to his near post to steer for a corner-kick.

Tchouameni almost made the breakthrough from the corner, but he unfortunately directed his header on the top of goal and saw the host off the hook.

Madrid's momentum paid off on the half-hour mark when a one-two between Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe saw the Frenchman run in-behind to curl in the far corner.

The home team were inspired after halftime despite trailing and had the European champions pinned for a decent spell.

Mbappe though allayed the fears ten minutes after resumption when he got wide of the box to curl in the bottom-corner after meeting Rodrygo's pass.

Los Blancos summoned the evergreen Luka Modric from the bench in place of Ceballos while Raul Asencio sacrificed for David Alaba.

Madrid were comfortable at this stage of the proceedings, having taking the wind out of the home side and in a solid position to victory.

It continued to be one-way traffic with Mbappe claiming a hat-trick in the final minute after converting a penalty following a foul by Mario Martin on Bellingham.

The decision to award the spot-kick also saw Martin given his marching orders following a second booking.

Madrid bagged the win in resounding fashion and remained on top of the table and turn attention to the UEFA Champions League in midweek against Brest.
