In a bizarre interview, one of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's former teammates has revealed how he was slapped by the Swede after he kissed the striker on the lips while he was asleep.
Former Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan star Andy van der Meyde has opened up about the time he was smacked several times by Ibrahimovic during their time together at the Eredivisie giants between 2001 and 2003.
The Dutchman, who is now 41 years old, recently told VTBL that he always sat next to the current AC Milan forward on the team bus, and when he decided to play a prank on him one day, it quickly backfired.
"When we were at Ajax, I always sat next to Zlatan on the bus," Van der Meyde explained.
"Once when he was sleeping, I got gay tendencies and kissed him on the mouth. Seconds later, I got a couple of slaps."
The former Everton and Netherlands star has previously spoken of the volatile relationship he had with Ibrahimovic, with the Swede having allegedly threatened to break his legs at one point.
"Yes, he did say that, but Zlatan said it to everyone," Van der Meyde told FourFourTwo in 2019.
"It's also true that, around that time, things just weren't working between the two of us.
"But I would rather be in a team with people who are honest, like him, even if it means there are a few arguments.
"But there wasn't a specific moment we fell out. We generally didn't get along well."
