Canada & Netherlands advance to last 16

Canada 2-0 New Zealand

Canada advanced to the round of 16 at the Women's World Cup after defeating New Zealand 2-0 on Saturday night.

After a scoreless opening half, Jessie Flemming opened the scoring for the Canadians in the 48th minute before Nichelle Prince sealed the win on 79 minutes.

The win moves Canada up to second spot in Group E, level on points with leaders the Netherlands.

Netherlands 3-1 Cameroon

Netherlands registered a second successive win after defeating Cameroon 3-1 at the Stade du Hainaut on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from Vivianne Miedema and a solitary strike from Dominique Bloodworth guided the Dutch past Cameroon.

Miedema is now Netherlands' all-time leading scorer with 60 goals in 70 appearances.
