With former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique reportedly no longer on good terms, the two reasons for their conflict have seemingly been revealed.
Messi was in Barcelona earlier this week to celebrate Blaugrana manager Xavi Hernandez's 42nd birthday, where he was joined by ex-colleagues Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets at a Japanese restaurant.
However, Barca skipper Gerard Pique was absent from the occasion as he reportedly no longer sees eye-to-eye with the Argentine.

Spanish journalist Lluis Canu has now explained why Messi is not on speaking terms with his former friend, claiming that the 34-year-old's frustration with Pique is related to his exit from the Camp Nou last year.
"The last contract renewal signed by Pique did a lot of damage to Messi, and he felt disappointed," Canu told Onze on TV3.
"In part, he also felt deceived by Pique because [he didn't reduce his contract further] until Messi left the club, and Messi felt he should have done that earlier to try and avoid his exit."
Messi left Barca in August 2021 after the club revealed it could not afford to give him a new deal due to their financial constraints.
While Alba and Busquets both took considerable salary cuts in a reported bid to help the club keep the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner in Catalonia, Pique only took a sizeable wage reduction once Barca's record goalscorer had joined Paris Saint-Germain – much to the reported disappointment of Messi.
