The most valuable players in the world

World News

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has seen his value decrease, while the likes of Erling Haaland have had their stock go up. Here is a look at the most valuable players in the world right now!

According to Transfermarkt, Neymar's market worth dropped from £90 million (R1.8 billion) to £81 million (R1.6 billion) in their latest valuation update.

Despite the decrease, though, the 29-year-old Brazilian remains PSG's second-best player in this metric.

While the likes of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Manchester City's Raheem Sterling have also seen their market values shrink, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane's remained the same from the previous update.

The England goal-poacher remains the third-most valuable footballer in the world at £108 million (R2.2 billion), which places him at first place in the Premier League.

Salah continues as Africa's most prized star in this regard and is the joint-fourth-most valuable player worldwide.

Meanwhile, Sterling took the exact same decline as Neymar in terms of his market value. In recent months, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium as he has been used sparingly under Pep Guardiola for much of the 2021/22 campaign.

His drop in value could possibly be a negotiating tactic for any club that may be interested in trying to snap him up in the January transfer window.
