Ghana has two representatives in the ranking, with Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey earning a healthy £200 000 (R3.9 million) weekly at the Emirates Stadium. The former Atletico Madrid star is joined by his national team captain Andre Ayew, who is the highest-earning African based outside of Europe.

The Al-Sadd forward has a weekly salary of £180 000 (R3.5 million), and his cheque is bettered by only four other players, including Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian, who joined the Citizens from Leicester City in 2018, is tied with Partey on £200 000 (R3.9 million) a week.

The 31-year-old's current contract expires in 2023, but it is understood he is in advanced negotiations with the club over a new deal, which could possibly see him get a pay increase, according to Manchester Evening News.
