Official: Robinho signs R4500 contract

Former Brazil star Robinho has taken a massive pay cut in order to complete a sensational return to Santos.

Over the weekend, Santos confirmed that Robinho had signed a five-month contract with the club, which sees him return to his boyhood side for a fourth spell. The former Brazil international, who scored 28 goals in 100 appearances for the Selecao, will reportedly earn 1 500 Brazilian Real (about R4 500) per month with the team. 

"Santos FC is going through a difficult financial time. So this is the time for those who can do something," the ex-Manchester City, Los Blancos and AC Milan forward explained.

"I want to help the club that always gave me everything. Santos FC has already done a lot for me and this return is still little. I will play for a minimum wage, but the most important thing is to be here. I am well physically and mentally, obviously, there is still a little bit of rhythm, but that over time we will gradually evolve..."

The 36-year-old most recently played for Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir, for whom he scored four goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.
