Yaya Toure linked with shock move

World News

Ivory Coast legend Yaya Toure could find himself going head to head with former Bafana Bafana manager Stuart Baxter next season after being linked with a shock move to India.

Toure has been without a club since January after leaving China League One side Qingdao Huanghai, but could now find himself playing in India next season after reportedly being offered to a host of clubs across the Indian Super League (ISL).

According to The Times of India, a number of unnamed Indian clubs received a PDF document via email from a source purported to be Toure's Asian representatives, Harcus Consultancy Group, offering them the opportunity to sign the former Ivory Coast international.

While these emails were reportedly met with no response due to the financial implications involved, a second email is said to have been sent out, in which it was stated that the former FC Barcelona and Manchester City star would be willing to slash his demands by two-thirds.

It is claimed the 37-year-old would accept an annual salary of $500 000 (R8.7 million), which, should any ISL club be willing to offer it, could see him go head to head with former South Africa coach Baxter, who recently took charge of Odisha.
