Ajax star arrested over stabbing – report

Ajax Amsterdam star Quincy Promes has reportedly been arrested in connection with a family stabbing that took place earlier this year.

Ajax and Netherlands winger Promes was arrested on Sunday in connection with his alleged involvement in a stabbing that occurred in July, Dutch publication De Telegraaf h/t Reuters has reported.

It is claimed the incident took place at a family reunion that was hosted by a company that the footballer owns when the 28-year-old allegedly got into an argument with a relative that resulted in the victim being stabbed.

"[Promes] is suspected of assault resulting in serious physical injury," the report states. "A relative was seriously injured and suffered, among other things, very serious knee injuries."

Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man had been arrested but did not reveal Promes' identity, while Ajax have not yet released a statement on the Netherlands international's alleged involvement in the incident.
