Real star 'agrees' to join Man Utd

World News

With Manchester United arguably headlining the transfer window so far, the Red Devils have now reportedly agreed a deal to sign a Real Madrid star.

According to the Daily Express, Los Blancos defender Raphael Varane has agreed personal terms with United ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

Varane, who is now in the last year of his contract in Madrid, has "given his word" to the Red Devils after reportedly turning down Real's latest offer of a new deal, and it is understood that the Spanish giants do not want to risk losing him for free at the end of next season.

Per Spanish outlet ABC Deportes, Varane has agreed a five-year contract worth €12 million (R203 million) a year with the Manchester club.

It is claimed Real offered him a four-year deal worth €7 million (R118 million) a season to keep the 28-year-old at the Santiago BErnabeu, but the Red Devils have now become the frontrunners for his signature.

An agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached, though, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes United have the upper hand in this saga.

"No official bid yet – [it] won't be a 'quick' deal," he wrote on Twitter.

"Personal terms won't be an issue – Real still hope to convince Varane to stay, but he wants to try something new. He's on top of #MUFC list as CB since months."
