Various reports in the country have suggested that the 50-year-old's days at the Les Parisiens helm are numbered, with the club said to be unimpressed with the team's performances in 2021/22.

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is one of the names linked with the job, although it is understood his main priority is to take over from Didier Deschamps as France national team boss, per PSG Talk.

While Zidane is said to be the favourite for the job, Tottenham Hotspur's Antonio Conte is also among the candidates to spearhead the Parisians next. The Italian did, however, pour cold water on any suggestions he might drop Spurs to take up the role recently, calling the reports "fake news".

With ex-Germany head coach Joachim Low and Spezia manager Thiago Motta also being considered by Les Parisiens for the position, it has now been claimed by L’Equipe that the 10-time league champions have included River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo to their list of suitors.

Gallardo, who played for PSG between 2007 and 2008, has an impressive record with the Argentinian giants, having won the league title, two Copas Libertadores, and a Copa Sudamericana since taking charge of the team in 2014.
