Mosimane left the club by mutual consent on 13 June following a poor run of form and defeat to Wydad Casablanca in the 2021/22 CAF Champions League final.
With a number of coaches having been linked with the job since, it was reported on Tuesday that Soares had left his role as boss of Portuguese Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente, along with four members of his coaching staff, with a view to taking the job in Egypt.
