Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will never feature for France again, according to French Football Federation president Noel Le Graët.
Following his involvement of the blackmail of French midfielder Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape in 2015, Benzema has not featured for the French national side.
There have calls for the 31-year-old to return after starting the season with 11 goals and five assists in 15 appearances for Los Blancos this season.
However, Le Graet dashed any hopes of Benzema returning to the two-time World Champions in the future.
'For me, Benzema is a very good player. I have never criticised his qualities', Le Great told RMC.
'On the contrary, he is proving again this year at Madrid that he is one of the best players in his position. But the adventure with France is over.'
An hour after La Graet's comments surfaced to the public, Benzema shared his response on Twitter.
“Noël, I thought that you did not interfere with the decisions of the national team coach! Know that it will be me and me alone who decides when my international career is over. If you think that I am finished, let me play for a country that I am eligible to play for and we will see.” Benzema tweeted.
