In 2013, the attacker joined the Spanish giants from Brazilian top-flight Santos. However, before eventually going on to win eight trophies and make more than 180 appearances for the club, Neymar experienced some struggles adapting to life in Spain.
This seemingly led to a breakdown in the dressing room during a match, but the Argentine stepped in to comfort him.
"Messi came and asked me why I was crying and I told him I hadn't been able to play, to be my true self," the Brazilian said, per redbull.com.
"He told me I shouldn't worry, that he was there to help me and that I should keep going.
"That support is what I really needed that day. That was the turning point."
In 2019, reports emerged that the Selecao star wanted to return to Barca after leaving them to join PSG in 2017, but the deal fell through as no agreement was reached between the two clubs.
Neymar has since explained his thinking behind that potential transfer.
"When I made the decision to leave PSG, it wasn't because of a fan or a club," he said in the documentary.
"It's because I saw that I felt better elsewhere. I never had anything against PSG supporters, nor against the club itself. It was never that.
"On the contrary. I am very grateful, we are on the same side, we defend the same shirt. I am here to help."
