Man Utd 'offer star' to Newcastle

World News

Manchester United have reportedly offered one of their first-team stars to fellow Premier League club Newcastle United.

With a handful of exits already confirmed at Old Trafford, it seems the exodus is set to continue, with various reports suggesting that more names are expected to be out the door ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

With new manager Erik ten Hag set to begin a new era at the club, it is understood that some squad members will be sold in order to raise funds to help buy new players.

As of yet, it has been one-way traffic with a number of departures confirmed but no new arrivals.

Now, according to the Daily Mirror, defender Eric Bailly is the next potential outgoing from Old Trafford, with United said to have presented the Magpies with an opportunity to sign him at a cut-price.

It is reported that the Red Devils could accept as little as £8.5 million (R166 million) for the Ivory Coast international, although they are understood to be hoping to receive a bid closer to £20 million (R392 million) for the 28-year-old.

Newcastle are also believed to be keen to sign Lille centre-back Sven Botman, but face strong competition from Serie A champions AC Milan, who are said to have the upper hand in the race for the Dutchman's signature.

Bailly could thus be a cheaper alternative for Eddie Howe's side, one who has Premier League experience too, having arrived in Manchester from Villarreal for a fee of £30 million (R588 million) in 2016.
