However, his managerial glory may be short-lived as the club is now said to have held talks with a potential interim manager who could take over the reins following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure on Sunday.
According to The Guardian, United have initiated talks with former Blaugrana boss Ernesto Valverde regarding taking charge of the side on an interim basis.
The 57-year-old Spanish tactician has been without a job since leaving Barca in January 2020, having helped the Catalan side to two successive La Liga titles and the 2018 Copa del Rey before his sacking.
The former Olympiacos coach is said to be keen on returning to management and does speak English, although he has never managed in the British game, per BBC Sport.
Reports have also suggested that the Red Devils are holding out for Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, whom it is said they would like on a permanent basis at the end of the current season.
However, Pochettino seemingly snubbed the Premier League club's interest in him after he said he was "happy" at Paris when he was asked about his potential future on Tuesday.
