Ten Hag gives clear CR7 expectations

In his first press conference as Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag did not mince his words as to what he expects from Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Dutchman seems to have a big job ahead of him, with the Red Devils set to begin a new era following an abysmal 2021/22 campaign.

Ten Hag has been entrusted with steering the club in the right direction, with the United hierarchy understood to be ready to back him on his decisions at the helm.

One question that has often come up since it was confirmed the former Ajax Amsterdam boss would be taking charge of the team is Ronaldo's role under the new manager, and whether or not the Portugal captain is part of the 52-year-old's plans at the Theatre of Dreams.

Asked during his first press conference as Red Devils boss if the five-time Ballon d'Or winner fits into his Old Trafford project, Ten Hag answered: "Of course," according to Sky Sports.

He was then quizzed about what Ronaldo will bring to his team, to which he simply responded: "Goals!"

Pressed on whether he was looking for leadership from the Portuguese forward, Ten Hag added: "I talk first with Ronaldo before I talk with you."
