Liverpool fan favourite's exit confirmed

World News

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the imminent exit of one of the club's fan favourites at the end of the season.

The German tactician has announced that striker Divock Origi will leave Anfield at the end of the season.

The Belgian will leave the club as a free agent having joined the club in July 2014, and over the years, he has become a cult hero due to his decisive goals in crucial matches for the Merseysiders.

"I expect Div to get a special farewell," Klopp confirmed during a press conference, according to The Athletic reporter James Pearce.

"He will forever be a Liverpool legend. It's been a pure joy to work with him.

"Wherever he goes, he will be successful. Everyone loves him."

The centre-forward is set for a switch to Serie A title contenders AC Milan, with personal terms having already been agreed between the two parties, according to The Athletic.

It is further reported that, due to the goal-poacher's limited minutes in the red shirt this season, the extension clause in his contract was not triggered.

It is understood that the 27-year-old will receive a special farewell at Anfield after Liverpool's last match of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday – a fixture that could possibly see the club clinch the Premier League title if other results go their way, and keep their dream of a quadruple alive.
