World News

Lionel Messi's agent has responded to reports suggesting the Argentine will join, and buy a stake in, a certain new club in 2023.

Earlier this week, it was claimed the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will leave PSG when his contract ends next year and move to David Beckham's Inter Miami in the US, while also acquiring a 35% stake in the Major League Soccer club

With Forbes reporting that the football superstar is the highest-paid athlete in 2022, the task of raising funds to become a shareholder in the MLS club would seemingly not be much of an issue for the South American.

This is also not the first time the 34-year-old has been linked with the Miami team, who were previously said to be targeting the former and current Barcelona quartet of Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba in the near future.

However, Messi's father Jorge, who also acts as his agent, has now denied claims his son has agreed to join Inter.

"Leo has not yet decided on his future," he told Le Parisien, per TMZ Sports.

"And if Leo Messi has crossed paths with David Beckham in the last few hours, it is only as part of PSG's stay in Doha, where the former English midfielder plays a role as an ambassador for the next World Cup in Qatar."
