Messi 'pressured' to return to Barca

World News

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi is reportedly being "pressured" by a very close member of his family to return to FC Barcelona.

Messi has not hit the ground running at PSG, where he has scored just one goal in his first 11 matches in Ligue 1, coupled with missing a lot of games through injury, fitness and Covid-19.

With many questions raised about his struggles, Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo seemingly agrees that it has been a tough adjustment for not just the Argentine superstar, but for his family as well.

A report by El Nacional claims that Roccuzzo is unhappy at their new home and wants to return to Castelldefels, a suburb in Barcelona. Although the family is said to be living in a big house in an exclusive area in Paris, they do not like being there.

The report also states that the family is finding it difficult to adapt because they feel the weather is terrible and the language barrier is a problem.

It is further said that members of the Barca camp have been urging Messi to return to Catalan giants, with manager Xavi Hernandez and veteran full-back Dani Alves among those calling for his homecoming.

While Messi’s Blaugrana return would be sensational, it is understood that would not be possible as it would mean that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner would need to take a pay cut.

Another factor is the falling out between the 34-year-old attacker’s father Jorge and Barca president Joan Laporta, thus making the deal more unlikely.

Here are six players who could still leave Barca, according to various reports
