Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to make Kylian Mbappe their highest earner ahead of Lionel Messi in a last-ditch effort to keep the French star.
Mbappe's future has been the subject of a lot of speculation over the past few months, and despite the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner revealing that he will remain in Paris during the current window, his long-term future remains an open topic as he is out of contract at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Here are seven transfers that were confirmed over the past weekend
Yet to sign an extension with the French club, Mbappe could leave the Parc des Princes as a free agent in July. Real Madrid have been strongly linked with the 23-year-old, but their advances for the forward have been rebuffed on multiple occasions by the Les Parisiens hierarchy.
With the Ligue 1 giants seemingly desperate to retain the France star, they are now prepared to hand him a contract larger than the one Messi is on, per the Daily Mirror.
The former Monaco forward is said to be only the third-best-paid star at PSG with an annual wage of €25 million (R438 million), while Neymar's €36.8 million (R645 million) yearly salary places him in second spot.
It is further claimed that Los Blancos are lining up a six-year deal for Mbappe at the end of the season, when he will be a free agent, and are keen to give the Paris-born attacker a base net salary of €21 million (R28 million) alongside bonuses based on performances and attacking output.
To counter this, PSG's new contract offer will reportedly only be a two-year extension, which would give Mbappe some flexibility for his playing years ahead, which might appeal to the Les Bleus forward.
