'I won't be surprised if Mbappe joins us'

World News

A Real Madrid stalwart has revealed that he would not be surprised if Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe joins Los Blancos.

Mbappe is one of the most sought-after footballers of his generation, and the 22-year-old's reported refusal to sign a new deal with PSG has increased speculation that he might join Real when his contract expires at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Speaking in a recent interview, Los Blancos midfielder Toni Kroos was asked to comment on Mbappe being linked with his club, and he made an interesting revelation, suggesting that the French superstar would be a signing that makes sense for the LaLiga giants.

"I prefer to talk about signings that have already been completed, but since Real Madrid always want the best, I would not be surprised [if Real signed Mbappe]," Kroos told German outlet Sport Bild.

"Next to him, [Erling] Haaland is definitely the most interesting player on the market, and therefore [would] not exactly [be] cheap.

"We must not forget that we are in a period where there's not an endless flow of money and, at the same time, we are completing our stadium, [which] is not free either."

Lionel Messi's reportedly imminent arrival at PSG could toss a spanner in the works, though, as it is yet to be seen what that potential transfer could mean for the French wonderkid's future.
