Messi makes Copa del Rey history

World News

FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi wrote his name into the history books once again after notching up an impressive goalscoring milestone in FC Barcelona's 2-1 Copa del Rey final defeat to Valencia over the weekend.

The Blaugrana failed to clinch a fifth consecutive Copa title as two first-half goals by Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo ensured Los Che emerged from the tournament decider as 2-1 victors.

Messi, 31, gave the LaLiga champions a glimmer of hope when he scored in the second half, but the goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
