Dani Alves makes Messi request

World News

FC Barcelona star Dani Alves has issued a request to Paris Saint-German's Lionel Messi, whom he spent eight years playing alongside at the Camp Nou.

Messi left Barca in surprising circumstances last year, given that he was expected to sign a contract extension with the club in August 2021.

Unfortunately, that deal collapsed as the Catalans disclosed that they were unable to extend their all-time leading goalscorer's stay due to their dire financial situation.

Following Messi's departure, the side oversaw an exodus of players in a bid to free up the wage bill.

While the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Miralem Pjanic, and Francisco Trincao were among those who left, Messi's exit remains the biggest of them all.

As such, talk of a potential return to the Camp Nou for the Argentine has never died down, with Alves being the latest to dream of it.

"I don't know what he [Messi] thinks or wants to do," the Brazilian told Mundo Deportivo.

"I insist he could come back for a year with me for one last dance.

"Why not? There is no other place like this.

"We can't be better than here; it's made for us, the city, the club.

"He's gone, he's tried something different, and it's time to come home if he wants to."
