A former FC Barcelona star is reportedly in talks with the club regarding a sensational return following the arrival of new manager Xavi Hernandez.

Barca president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club is in contact with one of their former star players over a possible return.

With a relatively young squad with an average age of 25.4 years old, per Transfermarkt, the Blaugrana are believed to be keen to add an experienced figure to their ranks, and it has now been reported that the club has sought their former fullback Dani Alves' services.

Last month, the six-time LaLiga winner told Diario Sport he would be ready and willing to return to the Catalan side.

"If Barca think they need me, all they need to do is call," Alves, who is one of the most-decorated players in the game, said.

"I believe I can add things wherever I go, but at Barca now especially with the youngsters they have."

Earlier this week, at Xavi's unveiling as the team's new boss, Laporta confirmed that they were in talks with the 38-year-old.

"Dani Alves is very active and trying to help the club in different aspects, and he's also offered his help from a sporting perspective," the Barca chief said, according to SportBible.

It is claimed that the Brazilian free agent, who left Sao Paulo in September due to an image rights dispute, will soon meet with Barca to discuss all financial and contractual matters.
