Speaking of the Portugal superstar, the Red Devils later confirmed that his move from the Turin club had officially been completed.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, confirmed their signing of sought-after France wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais, while Daniel James completed his switch from Manchester United to Leeds United.
Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is back in Spain after moving to Real Betis on loan, while Saul Niguez’s temporary switch to Chelsea, which includes an option to buy, was confirmed after the deadline had passed.
Similarly, Les Bleus forward Griezmann was involved in arguably the biggest, and perhaps the most surprising, deal of the day when it was announced that his return to Los Rojiblancos from the Blaugrana had been approved by LaLiga just in time.
