CR7 to be questioned by Italian police?

World News

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly faces the possibility of being questioned in an investigation into Juventus' transfer dealings led by Italian authorities.

With his former club currently facing the risk of being demoted to the second tier of Italian football, Ronaldo could be called in for questioning regarding his role in the matter.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Bianconeri had their headquarters in Turin and Milan raided last Friday as police confiscated contracts, invoices, and financial statements, taken as evidence in an ongoing investigation into Juve's financial and transfer dealings.

There are claims the Serie A giants falsified the values of as many as 42 transfers between 2019 and 2021 in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

Now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turin Public Prosecutor could request that Ronaldo be brought in for questioning as part of the probe, with the Portugal captain believed to have entered into a "secret" deal with Juve during his stint with the side.

It is said that this secret agreement could be linked to either the salary amount he agreed to have deferred at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 or the severance package he received before rejoining the Red Devils in August.

While it is understood that there are recorded phone calls in which the Old Lady's directors could be heard talking about a particular document regarding the 36-year-old that "theoretically should not exist", investigators are allegedly yet to find it.

The directors in question have also reportedly failed to give an explanation as to what the deal that was struck between the club and their former attacker was.
