Ronaldo 'putting pressure' on Utd board

World News

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly putting pressure on the Manchester United board ahead of manager Erik ten Hag's arrival at the end of the season.

United have had an abysmal 2021/22 campaign by their standards, one that will see them finish the season with the lowest points tally in their Premier League history.

As such, a number of changes are expected at the club next season, with Ten Hag set to initiate a rebuild of sorts.

The Red Devils will see a number of departures and arrivals in the next window, but it is believed the team's standout performer this season, Ronaldo, will stay at the club despite earlier reports suggesting he will leave in order to play UEFA Champions League football in the 2022/23 campaign.

According to the Daily Express, the 37-year-old has made it clear he wants to see a new team built around him, which is said to have indirectly piled pressure on the board to have his wishes granted.

It is claimed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner still has Premier League title ambitions with the Manchester club, and that his objective is to make the club great again, but this could require some serious investment in new playing personnel from the board.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that Ten Hag has already made a clear demand ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford, requesting that the team reports back for pre-season training two weeks earlier than originally planned.

It is understood the players were supposed to return from their break on 4 July, but that has now been revised to 20 June in order to get them into the condition the Dutchman wants them in ahead of the new season.
