Before his sensational return to Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly "offered" to one of the biggest clubs in LaLiga by his agent Jorge Mendes.
According to Carrusel Deportivo, Real Madrid's record goalscorer Roanldo was offered to Spanish top-flight champions Atletico Madrid by his agent during the last month of the latest transfer window.
It is claimed the Atleti was informed by Mendes that they needed to begin talks for the player before 15 August if they were interested in securing his signature.

However, it is said that, at that point, the transfer would have been complex for various reasons, and the Spanish side would perhaps have struggled to afford Ronaldo's steep salary.
It is also believed that Juventus were still hopeful of holding on to the player at this point in time.
In the final week leading up to deadline day, though, the Portugal captain informed returning Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri that he had "no intention" of continuing his stay in Turin, and he was subsequently dropped for the Bianconeri's game against Empoli, per Sky Sports.
At this point, it became clear that Ronaldo was really on the move, and it is understood that he was then offered to Manchester City before being snapped up by the Red Devils.
While Diego Simeone's side could not reach an agreement to sign the then-Juve striker, they managed to bring in Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona on deadline day, with Saul Niguez departing Los Rojiblancos for Chelsea on loan in the final minutes of the window.
