Reigning European champions Chelsea are reportedly close to reaching an agreement over a deal for a coveted LaLiga star.
The Blues are yet to bring in any new first-team names in this January transfer window, despite being linked with several players, including Sergino Dest and Frenkie de Jong, among others.

Although not a new signing, the Blues have recalled Brazilian attacker Kenedy from his loan spell with Flamengo, but while they were also said to be desperate to bring back Emerson Palmieri from Olympique Lyon, that arrangement fell through as the two sides could not agree on the terms of the termination of his loan.
Thomas Tuchel's side has now seemingly redirected their attention to Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, and they are close to agreeing a transfer that could amount to €60 million (R1 billion) for the player, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
It is understood that, should the deal be completed, the 23-year-old France international would only link up with his new teammates at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, in a move similar to that of Christian Pulisic when he signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
Kounde was strongly linked with the London outfit in the transfer window ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, but nothing came of it as Chelsea did not meet Sevilla's asking price for the player at the time.
