Bayern news: Lewa out, superstar in?

World News

With Robert Lewandowski potentially set to force an exit from Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga champions have reportedly identified a shock player as their replacement for the Poland striker.

Despite the forward publicly admitting that he wants to leave the Allianz Arena, the Bavarians do not appear to be willing to part ways with him in this transfer window.

With Lewandowski having told his club he wants a new challenge, FC Barcelona have been widely tipped as the star's next club, with the Blaugrana having recently made a £34.4 million (R672 million) bid for his services.

It remains to be seen whether or not this will be enough to prise the 33-year-old from Bayern, who are yet to reveal a fee that would be satisfactory for the striker's signature.

However, according to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, the German giants will turn their attention to Cristiano Ronaldo if Lewandowski continues to push for a move away.

The 37-year-old forward is said to be frustrated with Manchester United's lack of progress so far in this transfer window and could be tempted by the Bavarians' reported interest in him, with the Bundesliga club also able to offer him UEFA Champions League football next season, which the Red Devils will not be participating in.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic remains optimistic, though, that the Poland international will not leave in this window following a recent conversation with the striker in Mallorca.

"Lewandowski staying? Until now it's 100%," he told Sky Germany.

"12 July is his first day [back] at work, so I'm awaiting him."
