Barca to pick from City & Leipzig stars?

World News

With FC Barcelona reportedly ready to make an attacking signing in January, reports in Spain suggest that the Catalan giants are weighing up two options from the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

It is believed that Barca are now in a position where they can make a signing in January despite their financial struggles, thanks to the trimming of their wage bill over the past few months.

It is said that the deadline-day departure of French star Antoine Griezmann, along with Lionel Messi's exit a few weeks earlier, has given the Blaugrana some much-needed economic relief, and enables the club to pursue at least one of their attacking targets, per Mundo Deportivo.

RB Leipzig and Spain star Dani Olmo is understood to be under consideration as one of the options the club could look to sign to reinforce their attack, which is currently riddled with injuries to players such as Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Aguero, and Martin Braithwaite, while Ansu Fati has only just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Olmo, who is also a product of the Blaugrana's famed La Masia youth academy, is said to be keen to sign for the LaLiga giants.

Another candidate being considered for Ronald Koeman's side is Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling. The England international has had a slow start to the 2021/22 campaign, and has seemingly fallen down Pep Guardiola's pecking order following the club-record arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

Sterling has started just two Premier League matches out of a possible seven so far this season, with the likes of Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, and Bernardo Silva being preferred ahead of him.

With the 26-year-old reportedly on Barca's agenda, and with funds now seemingly available, a move for him in January could be on the cards.
