'African player dreams of Real return'

World News

Italian manager Antonio Conte has claimed that one of his ex-players, an African international, is dreaming of a return to Real Madrid.

According to the former Inter Milan boss, Morocco star Achraf Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain during the latest transfer window, one day hopes to play for his ex-club Los Blancos again.

The 2020/21 Serie A title-winning tactician signed Hakimi for the Nerazzurri on a permanent deal from Real in September 2020 after the player had spent the previous two seasons out on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-year-old fullback proved an immense signing for Conte as he contributed directly to 17 goals in 37 Serie A games in the past campaign.

The currently unemployed tactician has now shared some interesting comments about the star's relationship with LaLiga giants Real.

"Psychologically, Hakimi suffered a little bit from last year's games against Real Madrid," Conte said on Sky Sport Italia.

"His dream is to play for that club again as a key player.

"I remember those two games [versus Real Madrid] very well. From that point on, he worked a lot and I saw a young player who wanted to learn how to [improve].

"He understood that what he was doing attacking-wise was not enough; now he is among the best in the world.

"If he keeps working on his final ball, he can be world-class."
