10 top stars who could move in January

World News

With the January transfer window approaching, here are 10 high-profile footballers who could soon be on the move, including Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani.

There are many players who are widely linked with transfers at the end of this season, including Jesse Lingard and Kylian Mbappe, as their current contracts are set to expire in June 2022.

However, the latest reports suggest that some stars will not have to wait so long for their next move as clubs around Europe get ready to bolster their squads at the turn of the year.

Pogba's contract saga with Manchester United could come to an end amid reported fears that the Premier League side may lose the French midfielder for free when his deal expires at the end of this campaign.

According to Marca, the 28-year-old is unlikely to sign a contract extension with the Red Devils, leaving the side with almost no option but to accept a reasonable offer for him in January, if one is forthcoming.

Another United player in Cavani has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford following Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester in August.

The Uruguayan, who extended his stay at Old Trafford by another season in May this year, has seen a decline in his expected game time in this campaign, with the forward registering just 274 minutes on the pitch so far.

FC Barcelona were rumoured to be interested in Cavani in the most recent window, and with Sergio Aguero's recent medical setback, the Catalan giants could try to persuade the South American to make the move to Spain in January.

Real Madrid star Isco, meanwhile, is once again heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after falling down the pecking order since Carlo Ancelotti's arrival in the club's hot seat.

With the Spaniard having made just two starts this season, it is understood that Los Blancos will try to sell him in January.
