Slavia Prague 1-1 Glasgow Rangers

Bongani Zungu was a late substitute as Glasgow Rangers played to a 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague in the UEFA Europa League last 16 first-leg on Thursday evening.

After landing the Scottish Premiership title over the weekend, Steven Gerrard’s side fell behind from an early strike by Nicolae Stanciu.

However, Filip Helander cancelled out the Czech side’s advantage late in the first half to ultimately ensure a tie ahead of next Thursday’s second-leg in Glasgow.

FC Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Villarreal

Villarreal registered a 2-0 victory over FC Dynamo Kyiv in their last 16 first-leg encounter out at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium.

The LaLiga outfit took the lead in the first 30 minutes through a smartly taken finish from Pau Torres after the home side failed to manage a corner-kick.

Villarreal bagged a second early on in the second half courtesy of an instinctive strike from Raul Albiol from poor defending once again.

The outcome now leaves Kyiv with a mountain to climb in the return-leg scheduled for next Thursday at the La Ceramica in Spain.

Ajax Amsterdam 3-0 BSC Young Boys

Ajax Amsterdam took one step closer to the last eight with a late 3-0 first-leg triumph over Swiss side BSC Young Boys.

Following a goalless first half, Ajax went in front through the opener from Davy Klaassen and the second from Dusan Tadic near the end before substitute Brian Brobbey made it three at the death.

Olympiacos FC 1-3 Arsenal

Arsenal left it late in the UEFA Europa League last 16 first-leg to grab a 3-1 victory over Olympiacos on Thursday evening.

On-loan Martin Odegaard put Arsenal in front in pure stunning fashion midway in the first half, but the Greek side rallied back after halftime through Moroccan Youssef El-Arabi.

A late show though from Gabriel Magalhaes and Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny gave the Gunners a first-leg victory in the end.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb

Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in their last 16 first-leg clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Star forward Harry Kane opened the scoring towards the close of the first half before going on to complete his brace late in the second half to put his side one foot in the quarter-finals.

AS Roma 3-0 FC Shakhtar Donetsk

AS Roma went one step closer to the quarter-finals of the Europa League following a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Lorenzo Pellegrini put the host a goal up at the break with a strike towards the half-hour mark, as before Stephan El Shaarawy and Gianluca Mancini wrapped up the contest in the second half.

Granada 2-0 Molde

Granada’s dream debut in the tournament continued after they recorded a 2-0 win over Molde FK in their last 16 first-leg clash.

The goals came from Jorge Molina early in the first half and a late finish in the second stanza from veteran forward Roberto Soldado put the clash to bed.

Molde did finish the match with 10 players following Martin Ellingsen’s second-half dismissal for a second bookable offence.
