Atletico Madrid got their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign up and running with a narrow 3-2 win over RB Salzburg on Tuesday evening.
Marcos Llorente had Atletico on the board early in the first half before Dominik Szoboszlai levelled late in the half with Mergim Berisha having the visitors ahead early in the second stanza.
A brace from Joao Felix towards the end of the match put the contest to bed and with that revive Atleti’s chances of progressing from the group.
Olympique Marseille 0-3 Manchester City
Manchester City made it two wins from two matches in Group C thanks to a 3-0 win over Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.
City took the lead midway in the first half through Ferran Torres before goals late in the second half from Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling put the Ligue 1 side out of sight.
Atalanta 2-2 Ajax Amsterdam
Atalanta came from two goals in the second half for a 2-2 draw against Ajax Amsterdam to perverse their unbeaten start in Group D.
The Dutch side carried a two-goal lead at halftime following a penalty conversion from Dusan Tadic and the other strike from Lassina Traore.
Atalanta came back for the second half refreshed and drew level courtesy of a brace minutes of each other from star striker Duvan Zapata.
FC Porto 2-0 Olympiakos
FC Porto picked up a 2-0 win over Olympiakos to go to second-place in Group C after losing their opening match at Manchester City last week.
The SuperLiga side marched into an early lead through good work from Fabio Vieira before Sergio Oliveira netted the second in the remaining minutes of the match.
