Classy Leipzig eliminate Spurs

RB Leipzig 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur (4-0 agg.)

Tottenham Hotspur were sent crashing in the round of 16 after they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 in the second-leg at Red Bull Arena.

After losing the first-leg 1-0 on home soil, Spurs needed goals without key forwards Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and new signing Steven Bergwijn.

Leipzig on the other hand, were boosted by the return to fitness of Timo Werner, who scored the only goal in the first-leg, alongside Nordi Mukiele.

The English side struggled in front of goal, as Marcel Sabitzer opened two-goal lead in the first half before substitute Emil Forsberg sealed the German side's place in the quarter-finals with the third goal in the last three minutes.

Valencia 3-4 Atalanta (8-4 agg.)

Atalanta booked their spot in the quarter-finals with 4-3 win over Valencia in the second-leg courtesy at Estadio de Mestalla.

The Spanish side somewhat lost their home advantage after the match was played without spectators as a precaution due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Los Ches conceded an early penalty that was converted by Ilicic but Kevin Gameiro brought the hosts level 21st minute

Another penalty handed the Italian side a 2-1 lead going to the break, with Ilicic making no mistake from 12-yards before Gameiro got his second leg to restore parity once again.

Ferran Torres gave the hosts by making it 3-2 in the 67th minute but Ilicic netted two late goals to seal a 4-3 victory for Atalanta to complete a four-goal haul.
