UCL: Ajax deny APOEL first-leg win

UEFA Champions League

APOEL 0-0 Ajax Amsterdam
APOEL and Ajax Amsterdam played to a goalless draw in the UEFA Champions League group stage playoffs at the Neo GSP on Tuesday.
The Cypriot outfit pulled out all the stops to stave off the Dutch giants, who were hell-bent on a first-leg victory ahead of next week’s return tie in Amsterdam.
LASK 0-1 Club Brugge
Brugge took a giant step towards the group stages of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win over Austrian side LASK at the Linzer Stadion.
The Belgians went in front as early as the 10th minute through the boot of Hans Vanaken, who fired home from the penalty spot.
LASK pushed for an equaliser towards the break and immediately afterwards, but the visitors reigned victors in the end.
CFR Cluj 0-1 Slavia Praha
Praha edged CFR Cluj 1-0 at the Stadionul Dr. Constantin Radulescu in a first-leg showdown in Cluj County.
Praha seized advantage thanks to a 28th minute conversion from Lukas Masopust which the Serbians carried into the halftime break.
The two sides get the return leg off the mark next week in Praha, with Cluj in need of a major overhaul.
