UCL: Willian seal's Blues first win

Lille 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea won their first game of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League season as Willian scored late to sink Lille 2-1 in Group H at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Tammy Abraham opened the scoring for the Blues in the 22nd minute but only for Victor Osimhen to equalise for the French side in the 33rd minute. However, Willian snatched the winner for the English side with 13 minutes remaining.

Valencia 0-3 Ajax Amsterdam

Ajax Amsterdam maintained their winning start to the campaign after thrashing Valencia 3-0 in Group H on Wednesday evening at Estadio De Mestalla.

Hakim Ziyech, Quincy Promes and Donny van de Beek steered the Dutch giants to victory, while Dani Pajero missed a first-half penalty for Valencia.

Zenit St Petersburg 3-1 Benfica

Zenit St Petersburg picked up their first victory in the UEFA Champions League group stages following a 3-1 win at home against Benfica.

Artem Dzyuba handed Zenit the lead after 21 minutes which Ruben Dias doubled with an own-goal in the final 20 minutes, while Sardar Azmoun added a third 12 minutes to the end.

Raul de Tomas fired the consolation five minutes to go after coming off the bench, as Zenit go top of Group G.

RB Leipzig 0-2 Olympique Lyon

Olympique Lyon moved level on points with Zenit St Petersburg at the top of Group G with a 2-0 victory away to RB Leipzig in the group’s other contest.

Memphis Depay gifted the Ligue 1 side a perfect start with an 11th minute opener before strike-partner Martin Terrier made the points safe with a second in the 65th minute
