SuperSport reach UEFA agreement

SuperSport have reached an agreement with UEFA for its broadcast contract for another three years, which includes a brand new competition.

The South African broadcast company confirmed on Wednesday the renewal of the TV rights deals for the major European club football competitions.

The subsidiary of the MultiChoice Group has effectively secured the Champions League, Europa League, Youth League and the new 32-team Europa Conference League competition that will commence in the 2021/22 season.

"UEFA football competitions showcase the champion footballers of Europe, never failing to produce excitement and drama and we look forward to broadcasting these events in the years to come," chief executive Calvo Mawela said.

The broadcast channel that supplies the Sub-Saharan region of the continent with sports has yet to secure the rights for CAF football since the governing body cut ties with French company Lagarde last year.
