Messi enters the Barca history books

UEFA Champions League

Lionel Messi has once again written his name into FC Barcelona's history books following the club's UEFA Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday.

Making his 150th appearance for Barcelona in European competitions, Messi marked the occasion in typical fashion by netting his side's opening goal from the penalty spot in a 2-1 win over their Ukrainian opponents.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner's effort came just four minutes and fifty-three seconds into the encounter and saw Messi add another record to his name, becoming the scorer of the fastest-ever recorded penalty goal by a Barcelona player in the Champions League.

Messi's effort against Dynamo also continues his remarkable spell in front of goal from dead-ball situations, with all four of his efforts across all competitions this season having been scored from the penalty spot.
